The candidate evaluation criteria include:

  1. The overall degree grade (Multiplied by 2).
  2. The relevance of the thesis (Maximum score: 5 points).
  3. Relevant research activity (Maximum score: 5 points). Specifically, 1 point for each publication in a peer-reviewed scientific journal, and 0.5 points for each presentation at a scientific conference.
  4. Interview by the Admissions Selection Committee (Maximum score: 5 points).

Prospective postgraduate students must have an excellent command of the English language. English language proficiency can be demonstrated through the following means:

  1. State Certificate of Language Proficiency as per Law 2740/1999, as amended by paragraph 19 of Article 13 of Law 3149/2003, and as applicable at any given time.

  2. Certificates of equivalent level issued by Cambridge or Michigan universities.

  3. A degree in Foreign Languages and Literature or a degree in Translation and Interpreting from a domestic institution or an equivalent and recognized institution abroad.

  4. A bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diploma, or doctoral degree from any recognized English-speaking higher education institution abroad.

  5. Certificates of equivalent level issued by other institutions (universities or non-universities), regardless of their legal status, provided they are certified or recognized by the relevant authority of the respective country to conduct examinations and issue English language proficiency certificates at the corresponding level. If there is no certification or recognition body in the respective country, a certification from the relevant Ministry or Embassy of that country in Greece is required, confirming that the certificates issued by the aforementioned institutions to individuals who do not have English as their native language are accepted by public services in that country as valid proof of English language proficiency at the respective level. The “respective country” refers to a country where English is the native or official language.

  6. A secondary school diploma equivalent to Greek secondary education, provided it was obtained after at least six years of regular attendance abroad. It is important to note that a foreign language teaching license does not constitute proof of foreign language proficiency (as per Presidential Decree 347/2003). Candidates holding such a license must submit a certified copy and an exact translation of the degree upon which the teaching license was issued.

Candidates who do not hold the required certificates as stated above are required to undergo examinations aimed at certifying their language proficiency at the prescribed level, as well as their specialized knowledge in the subject area of the relevant field.

The relevant application files of interested parties must be submitted within the deadlines specified in the call for expressions of interest.
