The Department of Agricultural Development, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) of the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) and the relevant institutional services, has aligned the Quality Policy of its Undergraduate Program (UP) and the offered Postgraduate (MSc) and Doctoral (PhD) programs with the Quality Policy of Democritus University of Thrace.

The Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Sustainable Production Systems and Environment in Agriculture” is committed to implementing a quality policy that supports its academic identity and orientation, promotes its purpose and scope, achieves its strategic objectives, defines the means and methods to achieve them, and aims for continuous improvement.

The Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Sustainable Production Systems and Environment in Agriculture“:

  • Designs, modifies, and improves its Curriculum with transparency and participation of all stakeholders so that it:
    • Meets contemporary scientific requirements and teaching needs.
    • Achieves learning outcomes and qualifications as described in the course outlines of the Curriculum and provides qualifications in line with the European Qualifications Framework for Higher Education.
    • Promotes research, study, and skill development for research enhancement, while addressing the educational, research, social, and developmental needs of the country in Agricultural Science.
    • Offers postgraduate students a comprehensive understanding of both theoretical and applied aspects of Agricultural Sciences, including specialized thematic areas or subfields related to the respective directions of the first cycle studies of the Department of Agricultural Development, specifically:
      • “Crop Production Management, Plant Protection, and Environment.”
      • “Agricultural Economics and Rural Business Management.”
      • “Food Science and Technology.”
  • Fully aligns its teaching quality procedures with the quality policy of the Department and the Institution by:
    • Selecting appropriate teaching staff in accordance with relevant legislation.
    • Evaluating teaching quality by students on a semester basis.
    • Participating in the internal evaluation process, as coordinated by MODIP of DUTH.
    • Utilizing diverse teaching methods and techniques, emphasizing student-centered approaches.
    • Monitoring student progress and development throughout their studies.
    • Encouraging students to write articles, publications in reputable scientific journals, and presentations at national or international conferences.
    • Ensuring access to useful and accessible learning resources.
    • Implementing the Academic Advisor system.
    • Participating in the procedures outlined in the DUTH Excellent Teaching Award Regulations.
    • Fostering an environment of respect, cooperation, communication, and participation among all involved in the program, while applying best practices for resolving issues as outlined in the Complaints and Appeals Management Regulations.
  • Ensures the quality (and quantity) of the research conducted by its academic staff by:
    • Enhancing extroversion through collaborations within the institution and with other universities in Greece and abroad.
    • Encouraging faculty participation in international and Greek conferences, research programs, and international collaborations.
    • Supporting their international mobility.
    • Seeking alternative funding sources (participation in programs, sponsorships, donations, etc.).
    • Encouraging high-level research that is published and recognized internationally.
    • Strengthening the link between teaching and research.
  • Monitors the employment status of its graduates and provides students with career-related information beyond the standard curriculum.
  • Based on its available resources (teaching staff and infrastructure), it ensures the appropriate annual intake of students to maintain a high-quality education.
  • Ensures quality at all levels of the program’s operation while taking necessary actions for its continuous improvement.
  • Has posted the Quality Assurance Policy of the Program on its website and communicates it to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures the regular updating of the MSc Program’s website, making it a reliable and up-to-date source of information for students.
